After the 2008 election, National formed a minority government with confidence-and-supply support from the ACT, United Future and Māori parties.

After the 2011 election, National continued with confidence-and-supply from the ACT, United Future and Maori parties.

After the 2014 election, National re-entered confidence and supply agreements with United Future, the ACT Party, and the Māori Party to form a minority government
