Byzantine Moorish Wars (1 ene 534 año – 1 ene 548 año)

Descripción:

The Moorish Wars were a series of conflicts between the Byzantine Empire's Praetorian Prefecture of Africa and Moorish tribesmen and petty kingdoms native to the region of Carthage. When Belisarius defeated the Vandals to restore North Africa to Roman control, the native Moors generally recognized imperial suzerainty. They later revolted due to their dissatisfaction with Byzantine administrators, and Belisarius was forced to return to regain military control of the region. In 547, the Byzantines utterly defeated the hostile Moors at the battle of the Fields of Cato, killing seventeen of their leaders and putting an end to the revolt that had plagued Africa for almost 15 years. Byzantine control of the region endured until the Muslim conquests of the 7th Century.
