Wangari Maathai promoted the work of Environmentalist programs to the UN. She started several organizations which include achieving different environmental goals. This includes planting trees in areas that had undergone deforestation. This organisation was one of her biggest achievements. She also wrote a book which stressed the importance of communities taking responsibility for their actions and mobilizing to address their local needs.
