Andrew Jackson was the 7th president of the United States, and he was famous for how he redefined the presidency. Jackson expanded presidential powers in two main ways: first, Jackson directly empowered the presidency by using the veto more than all previous presidents combined. Second, Jackson used his position to establish the authority of the federal government during the South Carolina Nullification Crisis.
