Bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki (6 agos 1945 año – 9 agos 1945 año)
Descripción:
While two of the Axis Powers, Germany and Italy, had surrendered to the Allies, Japan refused to give up, thinking that such a thing as inconceivable. America had been working on something called the "Manhattan Project" since before WW2 and had tested such a project in New Mexico. What they made was an atomic bomb, more powerful than a nuclear one. The US threatened Japan saying that they would get "prompt and utter destruction". US President Harry Truman could not send in troops for a Japanese invasion as it would be too costly. So, he dropped the atomic bomb "Little Boy" on Hiroshima, immediately killing 80,000 people and tens of thousands more from radiation. The Japanese still did not surrender, so "Fat Man" was dropped onto Nagasaki, killing 40,000 people. Emperor Hirohito surrendered a few days later, ending WW2.
