The Inca Empire (1 ene 1438 año – 1 agos 1533 año)
Descripción:
* Known as the Kingdom of Cuzco before 1438 (from ca. 1200)
* Pachacuti Inca Yupanqui (1418–1471) was the ninth Sapa Inca (1438-1471) of the Kingdom of Cuzco, which he transformed into the Inca Empire (Tahuantinsuyu, (which in Quechua means "The Four Regions").
* Most archaeologists now believe that Machu Picchu was built as an estate for Pachacuti.
* The Sapa Inca was the title of the ruler of the Kingdom of Cuzco and, later, the Emperor of the Inca Empire and, later, the Neo-Inca State.
* Cuzco was the capital.
* Túpac Inca Yupanqui (1441–1493) (son of Pachacuti) was the second Sapa Inca (1471–1493) of the Inca Empire.
* Huayna Capac (1468–1527) (son of Túpac) was the third Sapa Inca (1493-1527) of the Inca Empire. He died, possibly from smallpox, which had been brought to South America by the Spaniards. At that time, his oldest son and heir, Ninan Cuyochi (1490–1527) died, also possibly from smallpox.
* Huáscar Inca (1503–1532) (another son of Huayna Capac) then became Sapa Inca (1427-1432) of the Inca Empire, which brought about a dispute : the Inca Civil War (1929-1932). This was initiated by Huáscar Inca who declared war against his brother, Atahualpa. Atahualpa was victorious.
* Atahualpa Inca (1502–1533) (yet another son of Huayna Capac), the last Sapa Inca (1432-1433) of the Inca Empire. Was imprisoned and killed by Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro on 26 July 1533.
