First Punic War (25 sept 264 año aC – 10 mayo 241 año aC)
Descripción:
This war was fought between the forces of Carthage and Rome, because each thought that the other had too much territory. Carthage had a strong navy, which Rome could not contest. So, Romans built ships similar to the Carthaginians, and added a spiked bridge called a Corvus, which gave the Romans a way to attack with their superior land troops. The Carthiginians were paying mercenaries to attack Rome, but soon were no able to pay them anymore, and the mercenaries atacked Cathage. Crthage then had to end the war to defend themselves from the mercenaries.
