The Niagara Movement (1 ene 1905 año – 1 ene 1909 año)
Descripción:
W.E.B DuBois and William Monroe Trotter organized a civil rights group in 1905. The orginization attempted to tackle legal change by addressing issues of crime, economics, religion, health, and education. The group demanded equal economic and educational opportunity as well as the vote for black men and women and an end to segregation. After the Springfield Illinois race riot of 1908, members of the orginization felt that there was a need for a more powerful, interracial orginization to combat racism. The following year in 1909, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People was formed.
