4th century BC: Ancient Greeks begin to use rods heated over the fire, called goffering irons, to create ornamental creases in fabric. (25 feb 400 año aC – 10 jun 301 año aC)

Descripción:

The rods the Greeks used were made hot by fire, then coiled in the cloth to give the fabric ruffles and to change its shape. The heat in the rod loosened the molecular bonds in the fabric strands, allowing it to be molded into various forms and folds, or be flattened out - a principle that is still applied today to all sorts of clothes irons.
