The Songhai Empire was located in modern-day Ghana and the areas surrounding it. It was one of the largest empires to rule in the African continent. It was a very important trade center in West Africa, and they admired art and craftsmanship very highly, so a lot of art was produced from this time. This art depicted what life was like back then from all and any viewpoints: social, economic, and religious.
