The Opium Wars were between China and Great Britain, who fought over the British trade of opium to China, and how that affected them. The result was China’s heartbreaking loss, which cost them, in today’s money, millions of U.S. dollars and depleted China’s GDP by half in 20 years. It turned China from the biggest economy in the world to one barely surviving.
