All of his writings helped his become a professor at Harvard and the president of the American Society for the Advancement of science.
He published many books, which is what he is known for. In 1972 he wrote a book called Punctuated Equilibrium with the help if someone else. He challenges Darwin’s theories in many of his books. But, in this book he challenged Darwin's theory of Evolution. He also argued that evolution proceeds quite rapidly at certain points, occurring immediately. He thinks that it could be due to the sudden genetic changes.
