Felipe Calderon was the successor of Vicente Fox and was a part of the National Action Party as a conversative member. His Presidency was notable due to the beginning of the Mexican Drug War, which increased the murder rate significantly and would set up issues regarding Mexican drug cartels into present day. He deployed many federal troops to stop the war, which was one of the first times federal troops were deployed in masses in a long time. His term also had the Great Recession of Mexico, which increased the poverty rate from 43% to 46%.
