Great Famine Ireland (1 ene 1845 año – 1 ene 1849 año)
Descripción:
The famine in Ireland began after multiple successive years of failed potato crops. The failure was caused by late blight which is a disease that kills both the leaves and roots of edible crops. At the time almost half the population of Ireland relied heavily on potatoes in their diets. The British government tried to support them but were not very successful. The famine caused many people to suffer physically and financially.
