Descripción:

Charles Dickens was an English writer and social critic. He created some of the world's best-known fictional characters and is regarded by many as the greatest novelist of the Victorian period. His works enjoyed a blossoming popularity during his lifetime, and by the 20th century critics and scholars regarded him as a literary genius, which he still is recognised as. His novels and short stories are still widely read and known today. His most well known work is Oliver Twist where the reader gets to follow the treatment of a poor orphan named Oliver dring the mid-19th century. In this work Dickens critics the hypocrisies of his time, including child labour, the recruitment of children as criminals.

Oliver twist
1. It is easy to understand the starvation by the way they don’t leave anything on the plates on which the food is served. The look they give the food, as well as the fact that they suck their fingers in case something remains.
2. Oliver was chosen to ask the master for more food.
3. The reason his request caused such a commotion was that it was seen as a disgraceful act as if the given portion wasn’t enough to satisfy.
4. I think that in the future Oliver will be sold of to someone, and will end being treated equally, if not worse than the orphanage. Given that Oliver is a powerless, and poor boy.
5. It seems fairly obvious that the author is criticizing the deprivation of the poor. As in the text, it is seen that the kids are given small portions of food which resorts to leaving them to starve. The fundings go to other things, which they shouldn’t. Another example is how Oliver is put on sale, which shouldnät be possible.
6. While it isn’t as common in todays presence, there are still cases. Examples is the fact that billionare companies hire children, women to make clothes while earning next to nothing. A scandal occured with H&M having child workers.
