Underground Railroad (17 feb 1850 año – 3 agos 1860 año)
Descripción:
Underground railroad was a network of people providing safe houses and escape routes for slaves on the run in the South. Most slaves escaped states such as Kentucky, Maryland, and Virginia which were closer to the border. Many slaves headed for Canada because of the Fugitive Slave Acts which stated that local governments could punish runaway slaves and send them back to their original state. Two of the most famous conductors of the Underground Railroad were escaped slaves Harriet Tubman and Frederick Douglas.
