1875 - 1879 : Canadian Government Issues Scrips To Metis (1 ene 1875 año – 1 ene 1879 año)

Descripción:

The Canadian government issued scrips to the Metis, instead of establishing Metis land in Manitoba. Scrips are either land or money, which was offered to Metis families. in some cases, It offered the Metis a choice; to accept the scrip or to become "Treaty Indians" under the numbered treaty. Canada's government viewed the Metis as inferior to the First Nations, thus they thought that the Metis did not require reserves. However, the Metis' perspective conflicted with this. The Metis thought that thye had rights to land just like any First Nations! Below is a picture of the scrips that the Canadian Government used.
