The Jim Crow Laws were a series of laws created to segregate African Americans from White Americans. These laws show that American racism was still going strong against African Americans, and that the Civil War had not fixed racial tensions. This is important because these laws will eventually cause the Civil Rights Movement to form and cause the Civil Rights Act in 1964.
