1832 Reform Act: Men who rented property of high value were allowed to vote following this reform act. This allowed over a million men, or 1 in 6 at the time, to vote. A second act in 1837 allowed all land-owning men to vote, regardless of value.
1918: The Representation of the People Act allowed women with property and men even without property to vote.
1928: All women, regardless of property holdings, are allowed to vote.
(1969: The voting age was dropped from 21 to 18, creating today's British standard for voting.)
