In 2015, increasing hostilities by the North Korean government towards South Korea came to a head when the DMZ Joint Security Area was bombed by North Korean forces and an attempted nuclear strike was performed by the North Korean government towards Seoul and Busan, though both of these were intercepted and exploded over the DMZ. The Second Korean War lasted from 2015 to 2016, ending in a South Korean victory.
