Known as one of the bloodiest revolutions in history, the French Revolution was a complete upturn of the monarchy and institution of the Declaration of the Rights of Man in a temporary constitutional government. It went through many phases, from diplomatic to radical, finally ending with Napoleon's rise to power in the late 1790's.
