Birmingham protests/Bull Connor (3 abr 1963 año – 10 mayo 1963 año)

Descripción:

This was a protest by blacks that involved sit-ins, marches, and boycotts to protest segregation laws in the city. Eugene "Bull" Connor set violent police dogs and fire hoses on the protesters. This was in Birmingham Alabama and it was organized by the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. In these protests King was arrested and he wrote his letter in jail. An effect was that it shocked the nation and brought attention to the violence toward black people. After this, there was moral support for the civil rights movement. All of this because of the coverage in televisions and newspapers.
