Greek philosopher. Believed humans reach highest potential in organized government (he called polis). People were evil and selfish by themselves, but society fixes them. Wanted middle class democracy (they are educated, morally virtuous, participate in political society), but realistically, a monarchy with a philosopher advisor (philosopher king would become too greedy).
