Japanese Occupation (8 dic 1941 año – 14 agos 1945 año)
Descripción:
The objective of the Japanese invasion in Malaya and Singapore was to cleanse them of Western influence (McCoy, 2000) and to obtain natural resources (Lin, 2016). They radically modified every existing institution and brutalised anyone who was deemed a threat or inferior. Their brutality concentrated more on the the Chinese population due to the bitter war between Japan and China in the late 1930s. Their governance lasted just nearly four years, yet the event left permanent trauma.
