LeCompton Constitution (1 ene 1857 año – 1 ene 0 año)

Descripción:

The LeCompton Constitution was a document that would make Kansas a slave state. The majority of settlers in Kansas were against the document, as they were antislavery republicans. President Buchanan asked Congress to admit Kansas as a slave state, but Congress voted against the legislation along with the residents of Kansas.

The LeCompton Constitution is significant because it's rejection empowered many Northerners with the belief that they could overpower the Southern votes. The LeCompton Constitution gave Northerners confidence, which further led to the start of conflict between the North and the South.
