War of 1812 (18 jun 1812 año – 18 feb 1815 año)

Descripción:

Despite America’s many attempts to remain neutral and uninvolved with the conflict between France and Britain, they eventually declared war on Britain, who had refused to compromise, unlike France. Britain had previously been capturing American ships and impressing the crew members. The results of the war was a huge surge in nationalism, because America did not lose very much, even though they had been fighting the strongest navy force in the world. Throughout the war, the military and defenses were improved drastically, which contributed to America’s identity as an extremely powerful force to be reckoned with. It also made the western frontier safer, since Indian nations were suppressed and could not fight back. At the end, the Star Spangled Banner was created as the national symbol, which is also one of the defining symbols of America today.
