Lengthy, economically draining conflict between the communist North Vietnam and the American allied South Vietnam. The conflict was instigated by the ongoing Cold War, and many people died, mostly Vietnamese civillians. This event was mostly related the concept of proxy war because opposing powers were fighting each other indirectly.
