City's first static period & few developments (1 ene 1956 año – 1 ene 1964 año)
Descripción:
Between 1956 and 1964, the city faced its first static period, due to downturn in value of oil and a slower economic growth. The frequent economic crises limited the rapid growth of the city, though in the same time, the harbour was
extended and modernised. King Faisal Street was completed and considerable building operations took place in the city centre. Uncontrolled and unplanned squatter settlements grew on the southern outskirts of the city.
