Louis XIV had the longest reign in European history, and the French monarchy reached the peak of complete Absolutism. To symbolize his role with God, Louis at the age of 15 wore a sun costume, which lead him to aquire the title, “Sun King.” He ruled his kingdom through several councils of state and insisted on taking a personal role in many of their decisions.
