Was the Duke of Sully and was appointed as Chief Minister. This meant he was in charge of indirect taxes on salt, sales, and many other things dealing with the French economy. He introduced paulette which was a yearly fee paid by officials to guarantee heredity in offices. He also brought peace to France by lowering the tax burden on peasents making them less likely to revolt.
