A series of wars that put France (led by Napoleon Bonaparte) against the rest of Europe. It diverted the British's attention against the United States during the War of 1812 and other conflicts. It also led to increased tensions between France, the US, and Great Britain as both did not want the US to trade with the other and imposed embargoes.
