Between 1914 and 1918 the world was shaken by the First World War. During this conflict two great alliances were faced: "the allies" (France, Great Britain, Russia and the United States) and "the central empires" (Germany, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria and the Turkish or Ottoman Empire). After six months of negotiations at the Paris Peace Conference, on June 28, 1919, the Allied countries signed the Treaty of Versailles with Germany.
