The first VHS films were released during the 1970s, the first being released to the public was a South-Korean drama, The Young Teacher, in 1976.

VHS films changed the film industry as VHS tape did not age as quickly as film did, this also made it cheaper to transport and produce. Making them more accessible for everyone, films were no longer exclusive for the upper class.
