Physician, merchant, politician, teacher, and asylum superintendent; b. 26 May 1805 near Lisburn (Northern Ireland), son of Joseph Workman and Catharine Goudie (Gowdie); m. 30 May 1835 Elizabeth Wasnidge in Montreal, and they had seven sons and three daughters; d. 15 April 1894 in Toronto.
