The seventh generation of consoles began in 2005 with the release of the Xbox 360. Its emphasis was on internet connectivity and online, multiplayer gameplay. It also featured Xbox Live, where users could play games with friends through the internet and download updates, music, and movies! Although it was not the best-selling console of this generation, it is widely considered to be the most culturally influential.
PlayStation 3 was the second console in the seventh generation. It is notable for being the first console to use Blu-ray disks as its game storage medium. It also supported remote connectivity between itself and other handheld consoles such as the PlayStation Portable and PlayStation Vita.
