A series of natural disasters, such as a volcanic eruption in Iceland whose debris were floating over france, and climatic stress destroyed crops, fields, and vineyards, grain shortages sent prices skyrocketing, and families who once spent 50% of their income on food now devoted more than 90% of their household budget just to stay alive. On top of this, the working class were already getting taxed the most, while the nobility and clergy got little to no taxation.
