War between North Vietnam (Communist) and South Vietnam as both governments were determiend to reunify the country under their own rule. Neighbouring countries plus the US worried that north vietnam would win and communism would spread to the whole region. Around this time, SG gained independence and were afraid taht fighting would spread and destabilise defence
