Description: Also called the Forgotten War, this was a series of armed incursions by Moroccan insurgents into Spanish controlled West Africa. Morocco sought to claim remaining Spanish possessions in West Africa after achieving independence from Spain in 1956. Joint Spanish and French forces drove the Moroccans out of the Spanish Sahara and the city of Sidi Infi remained in Spanish possession until 1969.
