Colossus was a series of early electronic digital computers built by the British during World War II to help decipher encrypted German messages. Designed by Tommy Flowers and his team, it was a crucial tool for breaking the Lorenz cipher, a more complex cipher than Enigma. Colossus is considered by many to be the first electronic digital computer.
