Reign of Bardiya (5 nov 522 año aC – 27 jul 522 año aC)

Descripción:

Brother of Cambyses II and second son of Cyrus., who takes control of the empire following his brother and rival's accidental death. His is in turn murdered by a group of conspirators who's number included Darius. Darius and his fellow assassins surprise Bardiya at his summer palace (the most interesting of the accounts go) and murder him. They claim that he is an impostor and not actual the son of Cyrus but a magician called 'Smerdis' who has been using magic to deceive the people of the empire into believing that he is Bardiya. The carving included illustrates Darius stepping on "Bardiya."
