Jewish pencil factory manager Leo Frank is accused of sexually assaulting and murdering a 13 year old employee. Other employees falsely testified that Frank also made unwanted advances towards them. Frank was eventually sentenced to life imprisonment. His throat was slashed in jail and he stayed in the prison hospital. A group of 25 men stormed the hospital and kidnapped Frank, driving him 100 miles to Mary Phagan's, the murdered girl, house. He was then hung from a tree. This case is often regarded as a cornerstone of anti-semitism, since Frank was presumably falsely accused.
