Bleeding Kansas (21 mayo 1854 año – 29 ene 1861 año)

Descripción:

With the Kansas-Nebraska Act stating that popular sovereignty would dictate whether slavery would exist in the states or not, people who both supported slavery and were against slavery flooded into the state, to sway the votes towards one side or the other. With this rush of people moving into Kansas, came violence, as people were killing one another to reduce the amount of votes the opposing party would receive. This would come to be known as Bleeding Kansas, due to the violence that occurred in the region as a result of the fight for/against slavery. Bleeding Kansas contributed towards the Civil War because of the significant controversy surrounding the choice to use popular sovereignty, and generally increased tensions between the North and South.
