2025: Present Day: Politics and Economy (1 ene 2025 año – 29 abr 2025 año)
Descripción:
Prescott’s politics and economy today are closely tied to how people have used the land over time. In the past, mining, ranching, and logging were big parts of the economy. Now, it has shifted more towards tourism, healthcare, and construction. Building permits for new homes increased by 62% between 2023 and 2024, which has brought in a significant amount of money for the local economy. However, it has put a lot of pressure on natural resources, especially water, as water tables are now decreasing yearly.
Local leaders are focused on public safety and infrastructure. For example, sales taxes have been raised to fund new fire and police stations. Prescott’s economy also depends on tourism and outdoor recreation, so ensuring the environment is healthy is the key to keeping the local economy strong. This is being attempted with new management practices, allowing Prescott to have a chance to learn from its past and build a future that works with the land, not against it.
