2025: Present Day: Geography, Climate, and Ecology (1 ene 2025 año – 29 abr 2025 año)
Descripción:
Physical Geography: Prescott has an elevation of 5,319 feet. It is a mixture of rocky outcrops and steep hills, surrounded by the Mingus and Bradshaw mountains. There are several lakes, the most notable being Watson lake and Lynx lake, which feed into the Verde river.
Climate: Prescott has a diverse climate. Summers are warm, but cooler than other desert regions throughout the state. Monsoons are common throughout the summer. During the winter, Prescott experiences more precipitation because of its high elevation, with snow occurring from January through early March.
Ecology: Since Prescott is a mixture of desert and mountain ecosystems, there is a diverse mix of flora. At lower elevations, there are more plants that are of Sonoran Desert type. This includes sagebrush and creosote bush. At higher elevations most of the vegetation consists of chaparral, pinion pine, juniper, and ponderosa pine. In the more arid areas of Prescott, jackrabbits, javelina, coyotes, mule deer, and different species of snakes are common. In the more forested areas, black bears, mountain lions, red tailed hawks and western bluebirds are common.
