First Palestinian Intifada (1 dic 1987 año – 13 sept 1993 año)
Descripción:
Following the death of four Palestinians in the Gaza Strip after an Israeli truck driver collided with parked cars, an intifada, or uprising, begins in Israel-occupied Palestinian territories. This rebellion includes a series of protests, acts of civil disobedience, riots, and violence. While Palestinians primarily use the throwing of rocks and, sometimes, Molotav cocktails, Israel responds by deploying 80,000 troops with the frequent use of live rounds to suppress riots.
Human rights organizations criticize Israel and deem their use of force "excessive." The Israeli army kills 1,087 Palestinians, including 240 children, while 160 Israelis are killed, including 100 civilians. Additionally, actors of the intifada execute 822 Palestinians accused of being Israeli collaborators.
The uprising eventually is suppressed following the Madrid Conference and the Oslo Accords.
