Was fought between the British Empire and the Boers (Dutch settlers) in South Africa. It started when the British tried to take full control of Boer republics, like the Transvaal and the Orange Free State. The war was tough for both sides, with the Boers putting up strong resistance.

The war ended with the Treaty of Vereeniging on May 31, 1902. The treaty gave the British controll over the Boer republics but promised the Boers certain rights, like self-government. It also ended the war and laid the foundation for the creation of the Union of South Africa under British rule.
