It was a military alliance signed in Berlin on September 27, 1940, by Germany, Italy, and Japan, forming the core of the Axis powers during World War II. Purpose was to establish a mutual defense agreement, expanding their influence and cooperation in their efforts to dominate territories in Europe and Asia.
