Alexis Claude Clairaut (1 ene 1713 año – 1 ene 1765 año)

French mathematician, astronomer, and geophysicist. Considered to be a prominent Newtonian. Clairaut also went on the Lapland expedition. He tried, just like Euler and d’Alembert, for a very long time to solve the three body problem. With the use of the recently founded Leibnizian calculus, Clairaut was able to solve the problem using four differential equations. He was also able to incorporate Newton's inverse-square law and law of attraction into his solution, with minor edits to it.
