The Great War, known more commonly as World War I, is fought in Europe between the Allied Powers (France, Great Britain, Russia, Italy, and the US) against the Central Powers (Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Ottoman Empire). This war, beginning with the assassination of Franz Ferdinand, will begin years of conflict which we still see the effects of today.
