Schumann had gift for music when he was young. He started to compose at age 7 and set his own poems to music by 17. He abandoned law school because he likes music. He studied with Fredrich Weick. He lost his performance career because his hand got hurt. He founded the Neue Zeitschrift fur Musik in 1834. In 1840, he married Clara. He was a teacher in the Leipzig conservatory in 1843 and music director in Dusseldorf 1850. However, mental decline force him to retire in 1853. He is known for his piano compositions, symphonies, chamber music, and lieder. He is also known for his character pieces such as Carnival Op. 9, Kinderszenen Op. 15, Papillons Op.2…..
